Aptitude Assessment

The Differential Aptitude Test (DAT) measure various facets of intellectual functioning. It measures a person's ability and potential which will enable the to achieve a certain level of functioning if given the appropriate training. Performance on each test is age-appropriate and measured against tests such as vocabulary, verbal and no-verbal reasoning, mathematical ability, spatial reasoning, technical and clerical perspective.

Personality Measure

Personality: The Jung Personality Questionnaire (JPQ) measures a person's styles and preferences according to Jung's four dimensions: Extraversion, Introversion, Sensing-Intuition and Judging-Perceiving. These dimensions give us information about what drives the, how they deal with information, how they make decisions and how the approach every day life. The JPQ taps into the softer aspects, allowing individuals to become more self-aware. This assessment compliments the abilities/aptitude assessment very nicely.

Interest Measure

The South African Vocational Interest Inventory (SAVII) is designed to measure occupational interests by correlating personal and career information. The environment in which the individual works should be congruent with his interests. The results produce a 3-letter code which serves as a guide for the individual in choosing a career path. The occupational fields include practical-realistic, scientific-investigative, social, enterprising, artistic and conventional.

Study Habits

The Survey of Habits and Attitudes (SSHA) aims to measure what areas in the individual's learning can be improved. Propensity to procrastinate, work methods, teacher approval and education acceptance are all explored to identify methods that may be ineffective. Result will inform potential strategies to address these areas of development.

Values Measure

The Values Scale (VS) aims to measure what an individual places importance on, in the workplace or in his/her career. The values scale distinguishes what an individual wishes, wants and needs from a career from what is not important. There are 22 scales measured across six clusters. The clusters include outer-oriented needs, spiritual needs, self-realisation needs, economic independence needs, autonomous lifestyle needs and social-orientated needs.

Career Readiness Measure

The Career Development Questionnaire (CDQ) aims to identify specific areas of career development that may need to be improved. It looks into self-information, career information, integration, decision-making and career planning to gain insight into the career readiness of the individual and equip them with an action plan for their future aspirations.
